The primary mission of the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh is to provide inclusive, community-based homes and in-home services for people with intellectual disabilities, and to promote public awareness of their needs. The Community, inspired by Faith and a desire to help others, seeks to improve the quality of life for persons with intellectual disabilities. In living, working and breaking bread together, people with and without disabilities learn and grow together.

The Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh provides inclusive, community-based homes and other community-based support services for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in the Pittsburgh region.
Vision
Emmaus is an ecumenical, non-profit organization built upon a vision of people with and without disabilities sharing their lives. Emmaus strives to make the world a better place by ensuring that all people are valued and respected, regardless of their abilities, strengths, or needs. Everyone has a gift to share.

The Emmaus Community’s culture is built on the premise that each and every member of our Community – individuals receiving support, staff, volunteers, board members, family members – has a valued role, and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We work as a team. We appreciate the various gifts and talents that each person contributes to the Community. We all work together to strive for high quality “Everyday Lives” for people with and without disabilities, and we do so in an atmosphere of respect, hard work, and celebration.
