The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) was established in 1944, after its residents recognized the need for a Public Health Department. The mission of the Health Department is to promote physical and emotional health; prevent illness, injury and disability; protect health from environmental risk factors; and strive to assure the provision of accessible, quality service. The services offered by the Health Department are delivered through the following service units: Behavioral Health, Client Access, Communicable Disease and Epidemiology, Community Health Resources, Environmental Health, Business Administration, and Public Health Services. To meet the communities’ needs, DCHD employs over 500 health professionals who deliver direct services DuPage County residents.
