DSicovery

At DSi, eDiscovery is about people—the team behind the technology, and how that team will ultimately do whatever it takes for clients. In the litigation technology, eDiscovery and digital forensics realms, law firms and corporations need solutions beyond platforms. They need dedicated people with expertise to help them make smart decisions about their data.

That’s why DSi is a partner of choice for leading companies around the world on data management and collection, forensics, early case assessment and review platforms: DSi has talented people behind its services. It’s also why the company’s leadership and commitment to culture are consistently recognized on a national level.

Additional Culture Details

At DSi, we support our team by intentionally creating a vibrant, engaging company culture. We’ve accomplished this by implementing several culture-related programs, which we feel make DSi a “Top Workplace.”

Culture-enhancing programs have been created in the following categories.

●    Appreciation
●    Personal and professional development
●    Continued learning
●    Community service

At DSi, we appreciate hard work and it does not go unnoticed. We have created an Applause Board to display how our people live out our core values of:

1.    Make it happen
2.    Win the right way
3.    Do the right thing
4.    Extraordinary dedication

Applause cards are handwritten notes placed on the board. This also serves as a nomination for our Hall of Fame. Four finalists are chosen at the end of each quarter. Every year, we end up with 16 finalists who are entered into the final two judging rounds. The first round brings the total from 16 to four, or one finalist per core value, and the second round selects the overall Hall of Fame winner. The winner is officially welcomed into the Hall of Fame at our annual Christmas Party, and his/her signature burned into our Wall of Fame.

We encourage personal and professional development through employee-focused programs, including:

DSicover You, which encourages and tracks employees’ progress toward personal goals. The program’s tagline is “Better You, Better Us,” and we’ve built the program with that philosophy in mind. From health-related ambitions to learning a new language, we want to see our employees attain goals both inside and outside the office walls.

Each team member can submit a goal to the DSicover You committee. The committee assigns point values to each goal, and the individual employee adds the goal to our DSicover You wall. This allows everyone to see what others are working on and creates synergy around shared goals. We use tokens to represent points, and we move them from jar to jar as steps to achieve goals are completed.

Once an employee accomplishes the goal and all the tokens have been moved to the company’s “completion jar,” he or she rings a large bell so our entire office is aware of the accomplishment. The bell signifies the end of the fight each employee went through to achieve the goal.

DSi University is our innovative, online program that uses interactive courses, videos and fun quizzes to educate our team members. eDiscovery can be complicated, so gaining knowledge about our industry and our company is the first step to our employees’ success. But DSiU is more than a training tool. It’s also a way to introduce new people to our corporate culture and offer established employees a way to continue connecting with the company and our goals.

DSicover Your Community provides the opportunity for our employees to give back to their communities. We also encourage our clients to participate, as it’s a great opportunity to partner in community service with their company representatives.

Our employees are split into four teams, and we have a team tracking volunteer hours. As a company, we have set a goal to donate at least 1,000 hours of community service in six months. DSi makes a donation to the winning team’s organization of choice.

In addition to our many cultural programs and company initiatives, we have taken steps to ensure our employees feel they have a voice and that their opinion matters. One way we do that is through TINYpulse, a survey platform that gathers anonymous feedback. The survey is sent to employees each month as a way to gauge company-wide concerns, criticism and compliments, and the results are reviewed by an administrative team equipped to quickly address the feedback.

CEO & Steward of Purpose Tom Turner and President John Burchfield co-penned an ebook last year titled, “How to Create an AWESOME Company Culture.” In conclusion they wrote: “Culture is not something you work on part of the time. It requires serious commitment and patience, but it can be the most powerful thing your company does.”
