Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC) was founded as a community focused not-for-profit utility. More than 80 years later we continue to maintain a strong connection to the communities we serve. DEC is an electric utility providing energy needs to our consumer-owners in Kent and Sussex County Delaware. The 155 DEC Associates maintain safe and reliable electricity to approximately 93,000 active homes and businesses. Delaware is the 31rd largest Electric Cooperative of the nearly 900 Cooperatives in the United States.
Purpose
Delaware Electric Cooperative was founded in 1936 to provide affordable and sustainable power to rural parts of the state.
