COCC was created by a collaboration of financial institutions to deliver real banking technology. At COCC, we feel strongly that our carefully crafted mission statement, vision and corporate values are reflected in everything we do.

A major factor in COCC’s culture is its ownership structure. COCC is owned by its clients, which empowers the company to make employee-centric decisions that many other companies cannot. Our clients drive our innovation, and employees have the ability to help innovate new products and services for clients and to see their contributions in action.
COCC places a significant emphasis on employee communication, including an intranet portal known as COCC Central, with an Employee Hub that keeps employees connected with HR Total Rewards, Talent Development, Talent Management, and overall life at COCC. Formal messaging from our executive team, like our biannual town hall meeting, and casual communications such as quarterly Applause Huddles help keep the entire workforce engaged and in-the-know. We incorporate passive channels of communication including LCD screens, hallway dry erase boards, flyers, and emergency-related informational text messaging, as well as a blog and a quarterly employee newsletter that showcases new employees, a “spotlight” employee, and employees’ achievements and milestones outside of work.
In late 2017, COCC launched its home-grown employee engagement board called BRAVO! BRAVO! gives employees the ability to share real-time feedback about positive experiences with their colleagues. The application has a gamification component where employees receive points for creating, commenting, receiving, and liking a BRAVO! Employees with the highest points are recognized on our LCD screens and during our employee recognition events.
In the past few years, COCC’s rising managers and supervisors have participated in a robust Management & Leadership Development (MLD) program, learning about topics including employment law, employee evaluation, building a sense of culture on their teams, and more. In 2020 we launched our list of Management Expectations that highlights what we value in our managers at COCC, and every management course this year will be based on these expectations. We will continue to grow this program with a number of required manager tracks for both new and experienced manager. We’ve also launched our new Corporate Leadership Development (CLD) program, which combines internal business acumen and team building programs with customized academic training through a very special partnership with Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), and culminates in a graduate certificate and credits that can be applied toward an advanced degree. In 2020, COCC will also be continuing our program around early career development to help newer employees and recent college graduates learn time management skills, grow their professional brand, and integrate into the workforce. COCC’s robust internship program includes over 25 interns each summer and boasts an over 40% hire-rate from each intern cohort.
We hold annual holiday party and summer picnic events which include games, prizes, catered lunch, local vendors, and more. Many employees also participate in a casual monthly happy hour and intramural sports teams including golf, soccer, flag football, and volleyball.
