Purpose
Each year, an estimated 1 in 5 or 567,400 Long Island residents suffer from some form of mental health disorder, and CN Guidance continues to build capacity to sustain, expand, and/or launch programs that meet the needs of the Long Island communities we serve.
For example, in 2017 CN Guidance became Long Island’s first federally and state-recognized Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), a high-impact model rapidly expanding across the United States. And in 2022, CN Guidance began Intensive Community-Based Services for Children and launched a Youth Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team to enhance services to children, which we added to again in 2023 as CN Guidance became a Community Treatment Center through the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative. We have pioneered adult and forensic ACT teams, Critical Time Interventions (CTI) models, a daisy-chain design of housing and residential programming for those with serious mental illness, and more.
Our purpose has grown as our agency has expanded, too, and we now provide clinic-based services, housing, and field-based outreach, education, and care to thousands of individuals each year. In 2025, we launched our intensive crisis stabilization center, the Community Crisis Center, a crucial resource now open 24/7/365 to aid those experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis and their families, as well as first responders.

Vision
CN Guidance envisions a Long Island in which mental wellness, physical wellness, and freedom from addiction abound, in which adults and children can quickly recognize when someone may be suffering from mental health distress or a substance use condition, and when all such persons are compassionately referred (with no shame), to skilled resources (clinicians and facilities) that are available same-day to treat and begin supporting people holistically on their road to recovery. Toward this vision, we work every day.
Mission
CN Guidance inspires and catalyzes recovery for people living with mental health and substance use conditions through innovative and person-centered integrated clinical treatment, counseling, housing and support services — empowering those served to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
Additional Culture Details
Our agency’s culture informs how our employees act and how they treat each other and our clients, and we believe this begins with our leadership serving staff and others from a place of “Love Leadership” and agape, or treating others the way you would want to be treated. With an executive team that has been in seat for an average of more 10 years each, CN Guidance implemented a culture of Love Leadership that reflects authentic caring and respect, transparency, supportive accountability, and empowerment that starts from the top and is infused in every aspect of an employee’s experience at the workplace.
Related initiatives have addressed areas of Talent Acquisition, Rewards & Recognition, Career Development, Community Impact and Engagement, and Total Wellness. Examples include a Day 1 Orientation that acclimates new staff to the agency and a mentoring program for accelerated professional development. Executive leadership visit each program at least quarterly to hear directly from staff, and we actively survey our staff and clients throughout the year to understand what’s working and what needs improvement. Furthermore, we actively invest in our managers’ training and growth, and we support the ongoing educational advancement of staff at all levels to maintain high levels of staff satisfaction and excellence.
