CHNK Behavioral Health (formerly Children's Home of Northern Kentucky)

CHNK Behavioral Health (CHNK) provides a continuum of care for children, teens, adults, and families seeking treatment for mental health care and/or substance use disorders. Through a combination of outpatient and residential services, CHNK is committed to creating an easier path to mental health.

CHNK's psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) in Burlington is the only one of its kind in Northern Kentucky that serves females exclusively, while the Devou Park (Covington) campus serves males. PRTF is available for young people ages 7-17 and offers therapies that promote safety, peace, and healing so young clients can return to their families as soon as possible.

Outpatient services are provided at CHNK's downtown Covington office, as well as through telehealth and school-based services that help improve access and eliminate barriers to receiving life-changing treatment.

Additional Culture Details

CHNK Behavioral Health associates are a diverse team providing world-class services for an unique array of clients and families. Our board members, associates, and donors are committed to expanding access to mental health services with a special focus on at-risk families and individuals. Our goal is for every person visiting one of our locations to feel safe and affirmed. CHNK associates engage in training exercises on an ongoing basis to maximize positive treatment outcomes for clients and families who identify as members of minority and traditionally marginalized populations.

Partnering with the national Human Rights Campaign Foundation, CHNK seeks to remedy systemic inequalities such as the over-representation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth in out-of-home care. LGBTQ youth and families experience higher-than-average adverse childhood experiences and adverse community environments compared to non-LGBTQ populations which can result in increased mental health and behavioral healthcare needs. CHNK associates and board members actively participate in community-wide Pride events aimed at elevating awareness of issues of importance to this community.

CHNK has a designation from Ellequate, an award-winning employer certification and cohort-based leadership program for intersectional workplace equity. Ellequate acknowledges empowerment of female associates and above-average female representation in leadership position in the organization.
