Children's Assessment Center
The core programs of The CAC are meticulously designed to foster a collaborative environment that reduces trauma, interrupts the cycle of abuse, and equips families with the tools to safeguard their children. The CAC delivers a range of services tailored to address the comprehensive physical and psychological needs of children who have experienced sexual abuse, as well as their siblings and non-offending caregivers. These core services are accessible through specialized divisions, including Multidisciplinary Team Services, Forensic Services, Family Advocacy and Victim Support, Medical Evaluations, and Therapy and Psychological Services. Additionally, The CAC extends further support services like Children’s Services, Children’s Court Services, Community Outreach, Education and Prevention, and Child Sex Trafficking initiatives, all aimed at bolstering the provision of services to children and families affected by child sexual abuse.
Purpose
Sadly, before the implementation of children’s advocacy centers, there was not a streamlined process for children. Children were often interviewed multiple times by various law enforcement agencies, medical professionals, and mental health professionals. Here at The CAC, we know that having to recount abuse several times can be retraumatizing and sought to find a solution to make this process as trauma-informed as possible. We exist to protect children, heal families, and prevent abuse in our community.
The goal of The CAC is to provide all of the services children and families need in one place. Within our building, we provide forensic interviewing, therapy and psychological services, and medical services free of charge to our clients. Our hope is that our process will provide children and families the tools necessary to help them on their journey to heal from abuse.
We collaborate by providing space in our building for dozens of other agencies that we collaborate with to meet the needs of children. We provide trainings in the community to children, families, schools, medical professionals, and other organizations who strive to protect children from abuse. We train the partners within our building on how to work together for the most effective, collaborate multidisciplinary approach to child abuse cases.

Vision
The vision of the Children’s Assessment Center is a Greater Harris County community in which we heal children who are sexually abused and reduce the number of children who are the victims of child sexual abuse through both treatment and the development of strategies for prevention. We aspire to be a leader and an integral part of a consortium within our community which meets this goal. To achieve this ambition, we will apply our energies, resources, and talents to all dimensions of the issue of child sexual abuse.
Mission
The mission of The CAC is to provide a professional, compassionate, and coordinated approach to the treatment of sexually abused children and their families, and to serve as an advocate for all children in our community.
