Cheniere Energy, Inc. is a Houston-based energy company developing a significant LNG export platform along the U.S. Gulf Coast and, in February 2016, sent the first cargo of U.S. LNG from the lower 48 states in over 50 years. With expected aggregate nominal production capacity of approximately 31.5 million tons of LNG per year upon completion of our seven trains currently under construction or completed, Cheniere is expected to be a top five global supplier of LNG by 2020 and is one of the largest buyers of natural gas in the United States. Cheniere plans to invest more than $30 billion across two liquefaction projects. Three liquefaction “trains” (named for their long, narrow shape) are operating at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass facility, a fourth is in the commissioning phase, and a fifth train is under construction. A sixth train is fully permitted and waiting for market commercialization. The Corpus Christi liquefaction project is being developed for up to three liquefaction trains with expected aggregate nominal production capacity of approximately 13.5 million tons of LNG per year. Trains 1 and 2 at the Corpus Christi liquefaction project are under construction.
