Purpose

Change Inc. programming is grounded in the belief that youth will be most successful in life if they are successful in school. We implement three key programs:

GAP School serves approximately 200 youth and young adults (ages 15-24) annually through education and enrichment; training that leads to employment; and social and emotional supports.

The Community & School Collaborative (CSC) partners with 40 schools working to remove mental and emotional barriers to school success through school-based mental health services, mentoring, case management, and care coordination.

Change Institute brings healing, teaching, innovation, and advocacy together to create a training center and incubator space focused on preparing caring adults to best meet young people’s mental health and education needs.

Additional Culture Details

Change Inc. is the product of a merger between two community-based organizations, both of which had roots starting in the 1960s in serving individuals experiencing the challenges of systemic poverty and racism that prevent Twin Cities families from realizing their full potential. We are a premier provider of education, employment and training, mentoring, family support, and school-based mental health services. We serve children and youth at high risk of school failure, as well as immigrants and refugees seeking to rebuild life in Minnesota.

We have a dedicated staff of 110 professional teachers, therapists, mentors, and administrators, 58% of whom are from BIPOC communities. Linguistic competency includes Arabic, Spanish, Karen, Burmo-Tibetan, Somali, Russian, Hmong, and Japanese. To ensure we stay engaged, we prioritize recruiting and supporting a diverse staff who share and reflect the lived experiences of the people and communities we’re connected to and working in.
