Cardinal was founded in 1953 and offers the Northeastern Ohio community a broad range of banking products and services designed to make managing money easier. For over 71 years, Cardinal Credit Union has operated as a not-for-profit financial cooperative, where any profits earned by the credit union are returned to its members in the form of lower fees, lower loan rates, and higher savings interest.
At Cardinal, we believe financial education is the cornerstone that strengthens the financial well-being of the communities we serve. Anyone that lives, works, worships, or attends school within Lake, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Ashtabula, Portage, Summit, Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties may become a member. All members are eligible for services including branch banking, consumer, mortgage, and business lending.

Cardinal is focused on creating a strong culture that encourages and supports teamwork, integrity, mutual respect and accountability. Upon being hired all new employees are paired with a mentor to help them learn, develop and grow within the credit union. Cardinal offers quarterly coaching seminars to develop current managers as well as those aspiring to be future leaders.
Our goal is to provide an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging workplace where staff is challenged to do their best. Diversity is also a goal we strive to achieve knowing the value that different perspectives have on how we serve our members and interact with each other. Cardinal employees support the regions and communities we live and work in, through philanthropic endeavors, financial literacy education initiatives, projects that improve home ownership and free financial counseling.
