Additional Culture Details

Being rooted in the mission of helping children and families, when Bright Horizons heard of families being separated on the border, the company sent employees to visit McAllen, Texas to see how Bright Horizons could provide support to the migrant and asylum seeking families at our nation's southern border. Our CEO, Stephen Kramer, and a Bright Horizons employee jumped into action during the initial visit to McAllen to assess the situation and analyze how the company would be able to provide direct support. They helped in providing supplies that the Humanitarian Respite Center needed in the moment, such as Pedialyte, formula, bottles, diapers, and wipes. After that visit, there was a team that traveled to the Humanitarian Respite Center to help in creating the Bright Space in a matter of days. This Bright Space is just one of many places where children and families can heal from the trauma of violence, poverty, and displacement, and our employees were instrumental in making this a reality. Together with our Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, we created the Restoring Dignity Bright Space at the Humanitarian Respite Center in McAllen, Texas. They serve up to 200 children a day; all are in crisis and experiencing trauma. We also created a Takeaway Toy program to help supply each child at the Restoring Dignity Bright Space with a toy they can play with and take with them when they leave.

Currently in our Broomfield Office, a backpack drive is being held to support the new families in the McAllen Respite Center. When families arrive, they often have nothing to store their belongings or supplies the Respite Center provides. Full size, adult backpacks are in desperate need, and the Broomfield office is organizing a drive to contribute to the cause.
