The Ranch is a 1,830 acre family oriented recreation and second home community located approximately eight miles west of Sisters at the 3,300 foot elevation of the Oregon Cascades. The Ranch derives its name from the 6,436 foot cinder cone to the north.
Established first as "The Black Butte Land and Livestock Company," the Ranch was a family owned cattle ranch from the late 1800's until 1970 when Brooks Resources Corporation of Bend acquired ownership and began development. Since 1970, approximately 1250 homes and condominiums have been built at the Ranch. . The Corporation owns and operates two championship golf courses-Big Meadow and Glaze Meadow, the Lodge and Robert's Pub restaurants, the Aspen Lounge, the Lodge Espresso Shop, Lakeside Bistro, Snack shops, pro shops and sports shops, the Glaze Meadow Recreation Center which features a health and fitness spa, bike and sports equipment rentals, a recreation barn and arcade, utilities and other properties.
