Founded in 1975, BAMSI is in the business of “bringing people and services together.” BAMSI is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit human services organization and providing services to adults and children living with developmental and intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, mental and behavioral health challenge, and public health needs.

Purpose
At its core, BAMSI is about building connections with people and services. A key component of BAMSI’s philosophy is helping the people we serve build supportive relationships with peers, neighbors, and friends in the community. With an emphasis on respect and affirming the dignity of the individual, BAMSI helps the people we serve to learn, grow, and thrive in four main areas:
BAMSI Home provides caring, individualized, and comprehensive support to individuals with developmental, intellectual, or psychological disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, or other challenges that make independent living difficult.
BAMSI Kids provides support for children from birth through adulthood via an integrated array of services, addressing physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development.
BAMSI Community breaks down barriers to access and provides safe spaces for individuals and families to access the support they need.
BAMSI Health provides caring, individualized, comprehensive care to individuals and families struggling with health related challenges including mental illness, substance use disorders, HIV/AIDS, and other complex diagnoses.
BAMSI Home provides caring, individualized, and comprehensive support to individuals with developmental, intellectual, or psychological disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, or other challenges that make independent living difficult.

Additional Culture Details
BAMSI’s commitment to racial and social justice includes ongoing staff education, regular community wide discussions, and active committee work to elevate the voices of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals. BAMSI’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Access (DEJIA) Committee was recently recognized by the Association for Behavioral Health (ABH) for its efforts to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice as part of ABH’s annual Salute to Excellence.
