In 2017, Avon Machining acquired the Macomb County based Avon Gear Company to diversify and expand the capabilities of the organization. Avon Machining specializes in manufacturing high precision components serving aerospace & defense, construction & mining, agriculture, heavy truck, and oil & gas. Avon differentiates itself through its specialized capabilities, highly skilled personnel, and desire for continuous improvement. Investing over eight million dollars towards machine updates, safety enhancements, increased wages and bonuses, low and no employee-cost medical insurance plans, Avon continues to invest in the heart of the company. Avon adopted a people-first culture, guided by the simple core principle now known as our number one rule “treat others the way you want to be treated”. Understanding this philosophy is based upon purpose and values, it became our catalyst for change. We enhanced our people from a top-down model approach. We implemented small gestures such as monthly birthday treats, annual work boots, recognizing anniversaries, and rewarding perfect attendance. A more significant implementation was launching our onsite quality training program, in partnership with Macomb Community College; year one being awarded 18 certifications. Our success has been evident by being named a Top 100 Workplace 6 consecutive years in a row!
