At Home nurtures a positive and inviting office culture with all-hands pizza parties, Town Hall meetings, birthday and anniversary recognition, offsite team building events, and foosball and ping pong tables in the break rooms. The 540,000 square foot office and warehouse space is designed to break down organizational silos and features, with an open floor plan, low-walled cubicles and floor-to-ceiling glass doors in every office, including those of the highest ranking executives.
Promotion from within is encouraged, and in the most recent fiscal year more than 300 corporate and field employees were promoted to new roles. Score cards containing key metrics go out daily to Store Directors, so they can benchmark sales versus previous year and performance against their peers. A weekly communication rolls up performance of the fleet and provides recognition for high-ranking locations. Very few retailers invest in their people through this avenue and At Home feels this not only compensates our talented team for their hard work, but positions us as a leader in the retail space and as a true employer of choice.
