Purpose
Arena Energy was founded in 1999 on the belief that mature producing areas of the Gulf of Mexico Shelf have vast remaining potential—and that with the right technology, talented oil and gas professionals could unlock these drilling opportunities. Today, that vision has been realized many times over. Over the past 22 years, Arena has grown into one of the largest private Gulf of Mexico offshore oil and natural gas companies, having invested over $4 billion of capital in the Gulf of Mexico, paid over $1.1 billion in royalties to the government, and decommissioned over 300 wells and 45 platforms and other structures. We conduct our operations with an intense focus on the safety of our employees and contractors. We place the utmost importance on environmental stewardship and continuously strive to find new and improved technologies to lessen the footprint of our operations. Our operations support thousands of jobs along the Gulf Coast and throughout the country.
Vision
Arena Energy's vision is to be the premier energy production in the Gulf of Mexico Shelf across the entirety of the production cycle. We recently expanded our commitment to the U.S. Gulf of Mexico through service agreements with Arena group companies which provide drilling rigs, pipelines, and environmental remediation services to the industry. These Arena group companies enable safer operations, mitigation against pollution risks, and the continued ability to decommission wells, pipelines, and platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Most recently, Arena has dedicated resources to research the potential to repurpose existing oil and gas platforms to facilitate offshore renewable energy and carbon sequestration projects.

Our mission is to contribute to U.S. energy security by producing the least carbon-intensive oil and natural gas in the world relative to other producing regions with a focus on environmental stewardship.

Arena’s key operating principles are premised on the fact that exemplary performance in any area springs from a focused commitment to excellence. In fact, our company name has a direct connection to that premise as was expressed by former president Theodore Roosevelt as part of his “Citizen in A Republic” speech delivered at the Sorbonne in Paris, France in 1910: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the Arena.....”
