Access to Healthcare Network
In 2006, Access to Healthcare (AHN) was born of a realization that too many Nevadans were uninsured and that something could be done about it. Sherri Rice, the CEO of AHN, sketched out the first Shared Responsibility Model–demonstrating how the entire community could join forces to reduce the number of uninsured Nevadans without overburdening any one group–on a cocktail napkin. The principals that it laid out remain at the heart of Access to Healthcare today.
Sherri Rice joined forces with her colleague Niki King, who had worked with her at the YWCA and is the former COO of AHN, and together they began building an organization to serve the healthcare needs of Nevada’s forgotten poor. In a tiny office in a corner of Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, they created a company that today has touched the lives of so many in our community by assisting them gain access to the healthcare services and health related resources they need to become and stay well.

Purpose
Access to Healthcare Network’s (AHN) overall purpose is to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals in our community by providing and expanding access to services that address the clinical and social determinants of health. In addition to providing direct service to over 170,000 uninsured, underinsured, and low-income Nevada residents since its inception in 2006 AHN also acts as an intermediary organization, through its model of community “Shared Responsibility”, to support, strengthen, and integrate the health care and social service delivery system and stakeholders.
Vision
We believe in the power and dignity of people. We are a positive force for change and empower the health of our communities, one person, one family, and one partnership at a time.
Mission
Customer Service is the beating heart of AHN, and our communities are our customers. Community service first. People ALWAYS.
Additional Culture Details
We believe much of our success stems from our organizational culture. We strive every day to be a place where people want to come to work and share their great ideas, do great things, and make a difference in the lives of the individuals and families in our community. Every year we create a word cloud that represents the culture of AHN as told by its employees. We believe much of our success stems from our organizational culture.
