21st Century Public Academy
21st Century is a charter school serving grades K-8 that has been in place in Albuquerque, New Mexico since 2000. We serve a diverse population of over 80 students per grade level. We specialize in small class sizes and out-of-school instruction to best serve our students in their learning goals.
Purpose
At 21st Century we embrace the community as a classroom, and we do so by frequently taking our students to learn their lessons outside of the school building. You can think of an OSI as having class outside of the classroom. OSIs can be considered highly educational field trips where students must demonstrate their learning while on the trip and again when they get back to the classroom. At least 10 times a school year in elementary and 18 times in middle school, students are instructed outside of the school building but within their community. We call this “Out of School Instruction” or OSI.
Vision
21st Century Public Academy will provide experiences, situations, and opportunities for students to develop talents and to understand their role in the community. The body, mind, and spirit of each person will grow through lessons learned at school. Students will acquire a sense of personal responsibility, independence, and community interdependence.
Mission
It is the mission of 21st Century Public Academy to continually search for positive learning experiences that enrich students and staff. Whenever possible, these lessons will take place in the arena in which they are practiced.
