Lakeland School System is proud to be one of only 16 school districts currently designated as “Exemplary” by the Tennessee Department of Education, and our students consistently excel in academics, athletics, and the arts. Our schools were recently named the best Elementary and Middle schools in the Memphis area by Niche. Our outstanding students, faculty, and staff members coupled with high levels of community support and involvement are the keys to our success as we strive to learn, grow, and lead together.
We were also named one of only five Exemplary ACCESS School Systems in the state for our dedication to helping all students succeed. In addition, our school system has been named one of the "Best Communities for Music Education" for the last five years in a row, Lakeland Elementary School (K-4) is a National Blue Ribbon School, and both Lakeland Elementary and Lakeland Prep are named as Tennessee Purple Star Schools for their commitment to serving our military families.

Purpose
Lakeland School System strives to provide an outstanding, well-rounded educational experience for the students of Lakeland, TN. Our motto of "Learn. Grow. Lead." sums up our goals as an organization to provide myriad opportunities for our students to experience success in a wide variety of areas.

Additional Culture Details
Lakeland's organizational structure is "small but mighty" with an emphasis on meeting the needs of our most valuable asset...the students of Lakeland. District and school leaders are visible and accessible to our teachers, staff, parents, and community members. The level of parental involvement is incredibly high in Lakeland School System, and numerous community events are for the benefit of the schools or are organized with the help of school support organizations.
