Helmkamp Construction Co. is a specialty general contractor located in the St. Louis metro area since 1938. Helmkamp strives to be the builder of choice for the repeat professional buyer of construction. We serve the Industrial, Building and Life Science markets and have provided contracted and self-performed work for our customers in 25 states.

We often joke that one of our core values is "don't be a jerk". We hire good, "salt of the earth", highly skilled people who believe in doing the right thing, working safely, and giving back to the community. Employees benefits are key to keeping our awesome team in place. We provide a bonus program, a full 100% dollar-for-dollar match on all 401k accounts, cover 75% of health insurance premiums, and give each employee $250/year towards the charitable organization of their choice. We typically have the fridge stocked with beer (for after hours, of course) and have built a #helmkampstrong fitness center for employees in our corporate office. We believe communication is key and that safety is always at the forefront of what we do, so each of our employees goes home to their family in the same, safe condition they arrive to work in. Employees gather monthly for catered safety meetings and we often have special employee events like axe-throwing or simply have employee drawings for prizes, getaways, or baseball tickets in our 2nd row seats located near the Cardinals dugout. We believe that in taking care of our employees through appreciation and excellent benefits, employees will stay here long term, give their best and feel good about their future - both with the company and in retirement. Currently, most of our project management team joined the company after college and have never left. In addition, the average tenure of our superintendents is 17 years - which is quite a feat in the construction industry.
