Back in 2005, two friends and leaders in the title industry had a vision. Brian Pitman and Jay Southworth had led other companies, but one day they realized they wanted something more, something of their own, built with their own values on a solid foundation of respect and genuine care for their employees. Not long after, Independence Title was born, with 73 pioneering employees who unhesitatingly followed Brian and Jay on this new adventure and never looked back. They started with nothing more than a few branches in Austin and a shared dream of building something of lasting value for their staff and their community. Flash forward 13 years later: those 73 employees have grown to almost 500, those few branches are now more than 60 branches in all four major Texas metros, and the scrappy startup that declared its independence is still the #1 title company in Austin, as It has been for the past several years. And yet no matter how much has been achieved or how large it’s grown, Independence Title is still one big family, still led by its original founders, and still thrives on its original vision: first value your employees above all else, and success will follow from there.
