Tracing our roots back to 1919, Insight Risk Management was founded in 2013 via the merger of McDonnell Insurance and Menard, Gates & Mathis, two of the leading agencies in the Mid-South. McDonnell Insurance began in 1919 after Paul McDonnell returned from World War I, and 30 years later his sons Lewis and Jim joined him. Over the next four decades, the agency flourished under their leadership. Other key employees soon became shareholders and helped perpetuate the client centered culture of the agency. When Lewis’s son David McDonnell took over its management, growth led the agency to relocate to its current main office in Cordova. In 1983, Dale Menard worked with Gene Mathis and Bill Gates to form Menard, Gates & Mathis. The agency continued to grow with the addition of key equity partners Joe Evans and Van Menard. Their team expanded from the core group of employees to about 50 at the time of the merger. Today, Insight remains an employee owned firm looking forward to the future.
