EveryStep, formerly known as HCI Care Services & Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa, is a non-profit health care and human services organization serving 63,000 Iowans across 47 counties. Our family of community-based health care and support services offer compassion and guidance during life's most challenging moments. Founded in 1908, EveryStep is known for its ability to help patients/clients and to support community partners as they navigate challenges, address complicated care issues and achieve high-quality outcomes. Organization-wide, EveryStep offers more than 32 programs and services which support and educate young moms; assist immigrants and refugees; provide developmental screenings and referrals for children; bring wellness services to communities; deliver in-home care to people who are ill, injured or facing the end of life; and offer compassionate support to families during times of grief and loss. We empower individuals, support families and strengthen communities. When people face life's most difficult moments, we are with them, at EveryStep.
EveryStep is known for its support of veterans in its employ and in its care. EveryStep offers a range of in-home care and support services for those who need assistance in the home, when recovering from illness and injury, or when facing serious illness. EveryStep offers customized volunteer support services and special recognition ceremonies for its hospice patients in their homes and at EveryStep's Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines and Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.
In fall 2018, the non-profit organization formerly known as "HCI Care Services & Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa" was renamed as "EveryStep" - a family of more than 32 non-profit care and support programs.
EveryStep advocates for the people the organization serves. The organization collaborates with other community organizations and shares EveryStep's strong program outcomes with lawmakers.
EveryStep supports growing families by helping them access healthcare and community resources. Many of EveryStep's programs bring pre- and post-natal support to mothers through in-home visits from the organization's nurses and other staff. EveryStep also employees dozens of interpreters who speak more than 30 languages and dialects. The organization helps connect immigrants and refugees with vital services and community resources.
