Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County
EPC is the first and only environmental regulatory agency in Florida to win the coveted Governor's Sterling Award (2016). Our mission is to protect the natural resources, environment and quality of life in Hillsborough County. We are the only local program of its kind in the state that is created by a Special Act of the Legislature. We regulate any activities that could potentially impact the quality of the air, surface and ground water, soil, and wetlands. Our air and water monitoring networks are among the oldest in the country and the data collected is used both nationally and internationally.Our on-site state certified laboratory conducts over 50,000 analysis each year. We have received 15 delegations from local, regional, state and federal agencies to perform their work in our county to better serve our customers. EPC responds to approximately 1,300 citizens complaints each year. We value environmental stewardship, integrity, transparency and efficiency, and are focused on outreach and community commitment.
