About St Jude Children's Research Hospital

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. A non-profit pediatric research and patient care hospital, St. Jude is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer, sickle cell disease, HIV, and other diseases. The hospital also focuses on the advancement of scientific knowledge and its rapid translation into new therapies for these children. St. Jude is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children.

St. Jude is also recognized as a Nurse Magnet site by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. St. Jude collaborates with international affiliates world-wide and disseminates scientific data freely via the internet and publications so that children may benefit from it wherever they live. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing and food. St. Jude was established by actor/entertainer Danny Thomas in 1962.
