About Capitol Region Education Council

CREC has been working with and for its 35 member districts since 1966. CREC has developed a wide array of cost-effective, high-quality programs and services to meet the educational needs of children and adults in the capitol region. CREC provides professional development, educational programs for children in grades Pre-K through 12, school construction services, cooperative purchasing, and innovative partnership programs for adults. One of six Regional Education Service Centers (RESCs) in Connecticut, CREC assists more than 150,000 students each year, offers more than 100 programs, and manages 18 magnet schools in the Greater Hartford area.

CREC’s mission is to work with boards of education of the capitol region to improve the quality of public education for all learners. The mission is based on CREC’s core values: Trust, Leadership, Diversity, Quality, and Collaboration.
